Circumstances of Recovery: Human skeletal remains were found by hikers near Interstate 64 in Charlottesville, Albemarle County. Personal effects found with body include boots, a pocket watch, a penknife, and single green button (see images).

Accessories: Pocketwatch-back and crystal are off. Brand name is New Haven. Penknife-two bladed. Green button-four holed A dry cell battery, heavily corroded. The contents are black, it is reminiscent of a low voltage high amperage electric fence battery. (near the body)

Footwear: Pair of high top shoes/boots. Dark colored or black. Shoes are well-worn. Right show meansures 11 inches, narrow across instep. Left show is 10 7/8 inches. No size nor name noted. (on the body)

Shout out to these investigators for the photos and detailed descriptions. They even figured out what type of battery it likely was. Usually we have to go poking around for this sort of minutiae. Nice work!

While the pocket watch might have been manufactured in the 1950's, our UID could have owned it for several years, so I suppose it doesn't tell us much.

'Looking at the photo and info in the link below made me wonder if he had worked the railroad at some point (although no fob nor similar found with the UID), or maybe he was a transient "freighthopper"?

This articles quotes the Sheriff as saying the man was tall, at least 5’10” to 6’0”, the shoes were about size 8 and there were no signs of foul play.

Pocket Watch Doe's NamUs was modified today; no new public exclusions.

However, there is currently only one photo associated with the profile.
