At the time of his disappearance, his hair was shoulder-length and parted in the middle. His middle name may be spelled "Alan."

Watson was last seen in Arlington, Virginia on November 10, 1976. He left home to go to a friend's house, never arrived and has never been heard from again. Few details are available in his case.

I'm pretty sure David Watson did some pornographic modelling in the years after his disappearance (late 1970s, possibly early 80s). I recognise both his face, and the description of the DAW tattoo. I can only assume assume that like many young gay men of that era, he ran away from home to start a new life, rather than out himself to his family.

My dad grew up in Arlington and is 3 years older than David Alan Watson and also has his initials tattooed unprofessionally on his bicep. I asked him where/when he got his done, and apparently he did it himself when he was 14, but it was because all the guys were doing it. He wasn't sure if they all did it themselves. His best friend also has  his initials, obtained in Arlington in the late 60s/early 70s, and so dad said he'd ask his buddy if he did them himself or if someone did them for him.

Per ancestry, David Alan Watson went to Wakefield High. My dad didn't go to Wakefield, but his older siblings did. He said he would ask around and see if anyone knew David. He says it's likely that "there's only two or three degrees of separation" between them. So, maybe that'll yield something interesting.
