"Last Friday, 22-year-old Jacob Monday appeared via video for his arraignment on charges related to trying to kill Lancaster Deputy E.C. Daw.
On December 24, while locked up in Lancaster County jail, Monday indicated he wanted to speak to Daw, who was working corrections at the time. After Daw removed Monday from his cell, Monday strangled him with a cord, according to statements from the county."
"For the attack on Daw, Monday is facing 10 felony charges including:
Attempted 1st degree murder
Strangulation
Malicious bodily harm on a law enforcement officer
Bodily injury caused by a prisoner
Assault on a law enforcement officer (two counts)
Prisoner escape
Prisoner damaging property to escape
Prisoner possessing a tool to aid escape
Prisoner possessing a deadly weapon
Monday is also facing a misdemeanor charge of obstructing justice/resisting arrest.
His next court appearance is scheduled for March 11.
Already a convicted murderer
Monday has already been convicted of murder in Lancaster.
In December, judge Michael McKenny sentenced him to 22 years and six months for killing
David LaForge in August 2019."
