On Jan. 31, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office located skeletal remains of an unidentified male in a wooded area of the 10000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.

...contact the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office at 540-582-7115.

Sheriff’s Capt. Liz Scott said a man walking through the woods Friday discovered the remains in woods off the 10000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. 1) between Cosner’s Corner and Southpoint. She said the remains were about 150 into the woods between the Cookout and Rite Aid.

Scott said police believe the person was a black male who had been there approximately a month. Tennis shoes, a yellow hard hat and other clothing was found in the area, but nothing indicating the man’s identity was found.

Hampton man has been missing since August; police still seeking leads

He worked at a container shipping terminal. Could it be a hard hat kind of job? I can't read the name on the hat, could it be NIT (Norfolk International Terminal)? It seems like it's about 25 minutes from where he lived.

Edit: it was VIT, Virginia International Terminal according to that article. I misread but it still checks out.

Good job! I'm hoping this is him so his family can have answers they need.

It looks as if the hard hat has been damaged On the very top of it looks split as if there was a rather hard impact. Does anyone else see this? Also, is the blue item a jacket/coat, sleeping bag, tent? I can't quite make it out.

I see the crack too. Looks a little flat too, like it saw a lot of friction before splitting at that point, but that could just be me. The photos are sadly pretty unclear.

I assumed the blue item was a jacket, like a windbreaker material. Might make sense for Theodoric if he was cooler blooded, because it was around 72 degrees on the morning of August 25th, 2019 (according to wunderground.com)

Pics aren't really clear could it be an athletic bag ? That HH is definitely split. Are there bodies of water near by where he was found ? Wondering how Theo got separated from his vehicle ?

There aren't any significant bodies of water near the location he was discovered. The wooded area has a neighborhood to one side and stores/shops on the other side. It is possible for his vehicle to still be located in the parking lot of the stores. I don't think they have 'Tow Away' signs there.

After looking at that item again I think it's a jacket. Light colored cream collar, brand name on left chest area, vertical zipper near that brand name, below that is a zipper which appears to be athe the waist area. Why didn't I notice that originally? So, I wonder was he wearing the black pullover "fit" shirt, jacket, and shoe or those were nearby the remains? Do coroners or investigators normally undress remains on location?

Eta - quoted wrong message. Meant to reply to@adderall.

Yeah, that hard hat makes me wonder whether he was harmed while working. I doubt he'd bring his HH into the woods if this were a random walk in the woods, secret meet up, or drug deal gone wrong where he may have met with foul play.

BTW, welcome to WS!

It's a Columbia jacket, like this
