Details of Disappearance​

Okie and another man, Barkad Hassan, were last seen in front of the Dollar Tree store in the 1500 block of Sam's Circle in Chesapeake, Virginia on October 1, 2014. Neither of them have ever been heard from again. Few details are available in their cases.

Bump for Okie and Hassan. Virtually zero information or context given except name and they disappeared at X on Y day.

The first questions come to mind are their national origins, whether or not they were American citizens or what kind of possible ties they had in the community or with other nations. Creepy disappearance, and the grainy black and white photos on Charley project are even creepier, leading you to wonder who even bothered reporting them missing or what they said.

I would expect in most cases that when a relative or friend or employer reports someone missing, they would share basic circumstances. Of course if it was there employer who reported them missing and they didn’t otherwise have family or close ties to the United States, maybe that’s why we have no info or follow up.

While it may or may not be relevant to this case, sometimes I wonder if a great deal of missing person files with zero details are cases where a person ditches their employer? The pattern would make sense if they aren’t truly missing then no family members are knocking down the door of the sheriff, and if you don’t have emergency contact and no one follows up then it ends there. But alternately, many men’s missing cases of less prominence aren’t given as much attention even ones that should
