That in the context of the whole country it will be dragging for ages, first finding the money then the rest I can imagine. But that Herndon, a really nice neighborhood, doesn’t have it, it interesting. I am not sure I am totally buying it, but what do I know?

The prosecution presented evidence Friday that Magalhaes and the husband of the family she worked for, 38-year-old Brendan Banfield, had a sexual relationship for months. The attorney showed pictures of the Banfield's bedroom and closet the day of the murders compared to shortly after the au pair's arrest. In the eight months since the murders, it appears the au pair moved all her belongings into the primary bedroom. The prosecution also pointed out two photos of Magalhaes and Brendan Banfield together -- one on a nightstand and another on a dresser.

When police first questioned the family in February following the murders, Brendan Banfield told dispatchers that he'd shot Ryan after Ryan had stabbed his wife.

On Friday, prosecutors alleged that Ryan came into the picture because he responded to an account for sexual fetishes. The attorney said the account had been created from the Banfield home. Police have previously said Christine Banfield and Ryan were known to each other but have not explained the nature of their relationship."

The big question to me is who stabbed CB. If it was JPM, then why haven't the authorities yet charged her with that killing? And if it was JR, then JPM shooting him in self-defense seems to be very plausible.

In fact I would go so far to say that it's going to be very difficult for the prosecution to convince a jury that it was truly second degree murder and not self-defense (assuming JR killed CB).

LE refers to both JR and CB as victims in recent statements. In a recent interview, after ap already arrested, the police chief spoke of an open and active investigation and of holding someone "accountable" so unlikely he was referring to someone not alive. I think his recent interviews on local tv and on a sports radio show are linked elsewhere in this thread. IMO it is possible that JR was lured to be set up, much like Mark Winger - Wikipedia

Yes, if ap was stabber, they would have charged. If self defense shooting, likely no charge.

IMO they overcharged her a bit and are holding her in custody (also flight risk) in hopes that she will flip in exchange for a plea deal. JMOO.

The press conference you linked to was from the day of the killings. While the police initially said BB was present, later the evidence showed he was "'outside of the home' when the crime took place".

Thanks for posting this. I hadn't seen many of these details before. The WUSA9 article was somewhat more circumspect. I found this bit especially interesting:

They seem to be suggesting that this was a set up. If so, that certainly raises the question of who really did stab Christine.

It's always amazing to me the hoops people jump through in their badly-designed attempts to exit a relationship. Who is that devil on their shoulder that's able to convince them, against all observable evidence and experience, that they, unlike most others who have gone before them, will get away with it, and be able to walk into the sunset hand in hand, safe and comfortable in their new love?

I found the details re: the deaths difficult to read in the dcnewsnow piece. JMO but feel so badly for the families, friends and little girl and their loss, and also them having to hear all of that. Had hoped it was quicker or something, just horrific, and for what?

Juliana's next hearing is not until January unless she tries for bond again before then. Unless BB is arrested, I don't expect any news prior to that.

I feel this is a story I’ve seen before (nanny gets mother out of the way so she can be the new Mrs.; a husband creates a fetish ad saying “she” wants someone to come over and kill her).

Moral of the story: NEVER hire a young attractive nanny.
