This is horrifying! Another case where it is not known where the child is, but LE can't demand that her father tell them where she is. It is disgraceful that he was granted bond, considering the nature of his current charges and his past history.

From the link above (recommend reading the whole article. There is a lot more.)

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — As the Chesterfield County Police Department continues to search for 6-month-old Kynsley Grimshaw, roughly two weeks since she was last seen with her father — the courts may have missed vital information when deciding to grant him bond.

On Friday, April 8, Chesterfield Police announced they were attempting to locate the two Grimshaws. An incident that took place March 31 resulted in a warrant for 32-year-old Andrew Grimshaw’s arrest on charges of assault on a family member, brandishing a firearm and felony strangulation. Authorities said that Grimshaw left the area with his daughter the next day.

After the court determined Grimshaw was unlikely to “obstruct or attempt to obstruct justice of threaten, injure or intimidate or attempt to threaten, injure or intimidate a prospective witness, juror, victim or family or household member,” he was granted bond and released.

Bail for Grimshaw was set at $2,500 — $500 for the General District Court charge of brandishing a firearm, and $2,000 for the Juvenile and Domestic Relations (JDR) Court charges of strangulation and assault.

Grimshaw was scheduled for arraignment on Thursday, April 14, but records obtained by 8News show that his hearing was continued to June, and that Grimshaw’s attorney faxed information to the court on April 14.

8News reached out to the Chesterfield Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, but did not receive a response.

According to police, Grimshaw turned himself in on Sunday, April 10, but did not have his daughter with him.

On April 10, after Grimshaw turned himself in, he was served with a Preliminary Protective Order, which says that he cannot have any contact with 6-month-old Kynsley.

Police tell 8News they believe Kynsley is still with Andrew Grimshaw, but because they cannot confirm her whereabouts, they can’t verify a breach of the protective order.

If Andrew is found to have violated the order, he could face additional charges carrying a sentence of up to one year in prison and a $2,500 fine.

This article is dated April 12. At that time, Grimshaw was due in court on April 14, but on April 14 the case was continued to June. This article states that at his April 14 court appearance the "authorities would have a right at that time to inquire about the location of the child." Now that he won't appear until June, does that mean that the authorities won't "have a right" to ask him where the baby is until June?

I wonder where the baby's mother is.

In the early morning hours of March 31, police said the suspect physically assaulted someone and displayed a firearm in a threatening manner. Shortly after, on April 1, Grimshaw reportedly left the area with his infant child. Although authorities did not specify where the incident happened, a release stated that Grimshaw resided at the 5300 block of Hunt Master Drive.

On April 10, police said that Grimshaw turned himself in. However, Kynsley was not with him. Grimshaw was granted bond, meaning that both his whereabouts and the child’s are unknown.

“It’s an unfortunate situation,” 8News legal analyst Russ Stone said. “You’re in a situation where this individual is accused of crimes, but he has not been convicted yet, and he is presumed to be innocent of those crimes, and he is a parent to the child. Obviously, there is a mother, as well, who is also a parent to the child.”
**************************

The documents surrounding his $2,500 bail also detailed that he “may not leave the Commonwealth of Virginia” until his case and any relevant appeals are finished.

“When […] any defendant appears in court on charges, if the court has concerns that a child might be in danger, then it can be placed as a condition of bond that the person not be around children,” Stone said. “If there was domestic violence between two adults and there just happens to be a child involved, that doesn’t necessarily mean the child is in danger.”

However, 8News was made aware Tuesday evening of a protective order against Grimshaw. This order prevents him from having any contact with Kynsley.

A CCPD spokesperson confirmed to 8News that the order was filed on April 4 and served to Grimshaw on April 10.

Because they cannot confirm the whereabouts of the child, police would be unable to verify any possible breach of this protective order.

According to police, Kynsley is believed to be with her father and not in any danger. But because Grimshaw was released on bond until his next court appearance, authorities do not know their location.

Grimshaw is due in court in Chesterfield County on Thursday. Stone said that authorities would have a right at that time to inquire about the location of the child. If Grimshaw does not show up in court, he could face additional charges.

Anyone with information about Kynsley is asked to contact CCPD at 804-748-1251, or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.

The child wasn't with him when he turned himself in. She is either deceased, he left her alone somewhere, or someone is helping him. I think LE needs to lean on his family members and associates.

This doesn't make any sense. He has a protection order against him that says he CANNOT have contact with Kynsley however the next statement is that LE thinks Kynsley is with the father and is not in any danger. PICK A LANE PEOPLE! IMO
