Police in coastal Virginia say a North Carolina man is accused of killing two people he had taken hostage before he was wounded by police.

Chesapeake Police spokeswoman Kelly O'Sullivan said officers arrived in the 1300 block of Canal Drive just before 1 a.m. and heard screaming and gunshots coming from inside an apartment. Offices were unable to get anyone to answer the door or make entry into the home.
