"On January 3, 2016, Gunner Massey, Westers infant son, was taken by rescue squad to Pioneer Hospital in Stuart, where he was pronounced dead as the result of respiratory arrest.
Wester had called 911 earlier and said that her son was not breathing. Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith said that an autopsy was completed at that time by the state medical examiners office in Roanoke, and nothing suspicious was found as far as cause of death.
Smith said in a statement that the sheriffs office re-opened the investigation last week when new evidenced surfaced, and Wester subsequently confessed to intentionally suffocating the infant."
