The victim doesn’t seem to have been named publicly, and all the news reports go out of their way to write sentences in very awkward ways to avoid mentioning his name, but it does appear that the relevant authorities know who he is because in this FBI bulletin from 2023, he’s said to have been 26 years old.

I’m now 99% sure he was Avery Emmanuel Berry.

• Both were the same age (26 yo)
• Both were found in the same county and city (an address isn’t given in news reports I can find outside of the vague description of “near a residence” but I can see on Google Maps that the address associated with Berry’s homicide matches that description)
• Both were homicide victims who were shot in the chest
• Berry is the only homicide victim of the correct age found in LA County on the correct day
