With her being from Brooklyn, she may indeed be alert when outside taking a walk. Maybe she got lost, or the dog chased something and got away from her, etc. Did the dog return without her, or is the dog missing, too?
Following.
Thanks for the thread, @moonriverfarm.

Thanks for the thread, @moonriverfarm.
I get the vibe that this may be a voluntary disappearance. Can't say why, though.

Google Maps

The Connecticut River is close by.

So if you walk your dog and you are not back by 1 pm, it turned into a hike. Question is did she take her phone her?!

From the article that @Acorunadepor posted, the dog is a seven month old golden retriever. It's just a baby :( I hope they are together somewhere and safe.

So ... last seen at 11:00 am ... not reported missing until 8:00 pm ... why? Did she have her phone? Any family/marriage issues? Mental health issues? Gosh, so many questions without answers. Moo

The initial article now says her body was found in the river and appears to be an accidental death. I wonder if the dog was in the river and she went after him. MOO

"WESTMINSTER, Vt. (WCAX) - A sad end to the search for a missing woman in Westminster.

Vermont state police believe they found the body of Erika Seyfried, 36, in the Saxtons River.

Seyfried is from Brooklyn, New York, and was vacationing in Westminster with her husband.

Police say her death appears to be accidental."

This article has a video showing VSP searching the area - very rocky area in the river. Possibly easy to slip and fall in this area ? JMOO

Body believed to be missing NYC woman recovered from river

A slip and fall seems very possible there. Also from the article:

"The puppy has not been located, Silverman said."

"The pool where rescue workers were focused is just downstream from the concrete bridge on Covered Bridge Road.

It is a short distance upstream from the notorious Twin Falls, which is also on the Saxtons River, where more than a dozen people have drowned while swimming over the past decades."

"According to the LinkedIn website, Seyfried is vice president, digital strategy, at the publishing house Penguin Random House in New York City."

I hope that beautiful puppy is found safely.

Oh no! I had a good feeling she'd be located too. Well, technically she has, but.....
RIP.

This is such a tragic story. I wonder if the puppy got away from her, got into the water, and then became distressed, causing her to rush in to rescue it, only becoming distressed herself. Hopefully someone will come forward with information that could help law enforcement piece together what happened. If the puppy has survived, hopefully whoever finds it does the right thing and returns it to the family. MOO.

Unfortunately it seems the puppy was found drowned as well :(

“Her body was found alongside her 7-month-old golden retriever Monday. The dog is presumed to have also drowned.”

Police: Westminster drowning ruled accidental

RIP both Erika and the puppy. My deepest condolences to the family and friends.

Rest peacefully, Erika and puppy Jules.

Very sad outcome indeed.

This is what I dont get how can they end up together? Even if she had the leash in her hand wouldn't she let go of it at some point?

If the puppy got away and she jumped in ultimately you dont end up alongside each other. But some distance away. That must be case otherwise its a very strange coincidence.

The link that LemonMint provided and quoted from reads,

"The body of the family dog, a 7-month-old golden retriever named Jules, was found by police and family members Wednesday afternoon near the location where Seyfried’s body was located."

I guess they updated it, maybe realized 'alongside' was misleading.

Golden Retrievers love water. They were bred to retrieve waterfowl such as ducks and have an instinctive love for water. This may explain some of what possibly could have happened. The pup possibly jumped in and got in trouble. Being young and probably not familiar with swift moving water it most likely became distressed. Then she probably jumped in to help it and they both drowned. Terrible. MOO.
