Found Deceased VT - Quincy O’Gorman, 23, Brighton, 31 December 2016

Quincy O’Gorman, 23, was driving with three passengers when he was pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign and erratic operation. All four fled from police after the stop and were soon detained by police.

He is described as 5’10”, approximately 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

I don't get it. The article said all four fled but then they were detained....where did Quincy disappear from if they had him in custody?

I don't think Quincy was ever in custody. I think the wording/reporting in the article was a bit confusing & it was meant to say his 3 friends were detained, not all 4.

Friends say O'Gorman was drinking at K T Rays on New Year's Eve. The bar is only a few hundred yards from where police ended up stopping his vehicle on Alder Street. Friends say he then took off on foot. Police were able to trace his footsteps to the water's edge, and that's where friends say he vanished.

"Really have no idea as far as where he might be. There's no indication he's with family or friends," said Lt. Walter Smith, Vermont State Police.

Police briefly detained the three other people in O'Gorman's car while they searched for him. No criminal charges were filed.

Divers have been searching a brook and swamp area ....

Four people in the car ran off, including O'Gorman. Police believe he crossed the brook.

Friends say he was out drinking with them that night.

A grim ending to the search for a missing man in Island Pond. Vermont State Police say a citizen found the body of Quincy O'Gorman, 23, around 10 a.m. today in the water near Derby Street
