Police find missing woman's car near Fairfax Dam

Susan was recently released from the hospital with some health conditions, not specified in the article. Told her family she was going to drive locally and then go for a walk. Car found near falls.

This is fairly near me. There are two parking areas, one on either side of the falls, and I don't know which side her car was found on. On one side, there are trails across the road that are used by mountain bikers and probably hikers too. On the other side, no real trails (a little path through some woods near the river but it doesn't really go anywhere). They say her car was found at the "fishing access" but you can fish from either side.

It got quite cold last night (30s). I hope she is okay. If they are forming search parties I will join if I can. Other than the falls, it's a wooded area, rural with scattered houses.

The first thing that popped into my mind was self harm, but I don't think that she would have let her family know where she was going if that were the case. I wonder if her medical problems included mobility or cognitive issues. In any case, I hope that she is found soon.

Did she typically take her cell phone with her when she walked? Did she have Location enabled?

Sadly, she was found deceased. Says her body was recovered "below the falls" which makes me think it was in the water. Technically it says "a body" and ID is pending, but I can't emphasize how rarely something like this happens in this area. The photo is of one of the fishing access points where her car would have been found.

It was rainy and chilly yesterday so I doubt anyone else was down there who could have seen her or saved her. RIP Susan.

On October 21, 2019 at approximately 1025 hours, Colchester Technical Rescue located the body of a female, located approximately ½ mile north (downstream) from the fishing access below the Fairfax Dam where Susan Gray’s vehicle was located the previous day. The body was removed from the Lamoille River and sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Burlington, VT. Investigation continues and is pending the results of an autopsy. The positive identity of the body is pending the completion of the autopsy and the notification of all family members. At this time the death does not appear to involve foul play, however the investigation continues as does the autopsy.
