Kent girl missing since February 2020 featured on semi trailers | Kent Reporter

Asia Wilbon, a Kent girl missing since Feb. 13, 2020, is featured on the sides of semi trailers, part of a Washington State Patrol program to find missing children.

The State Patrol and the Kent Police Department unveiled the newest Homeward Bound truck on June 18 at the James Street Park and Ride at West James Street and North Lincoln Avenue in Kent.

In partnership with Kam-Way Transportation, the new trucks will display Wilbon’s missing poster in an attempt to increase exposure to her case, according to the State Patrol.

Wilbon was 16 when she went missing. She is an African-American girl who stands 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black jacket and jeans or dark colored pants.

Kent Police asked for the public’s help in March 2020 to find Wilbon, reporting that detectives had little to work on. Detectives have followed up leads but hope the giant rolling billboards will lead to more tips to help find Wilbon.

“We do not give up on cold cases and we will not give up on Asia,” according to a Kent Police statement.

Police ask that if anyone sees Wilbon, call 911 and reference Kent Police case number 20-2105. People can also call the Kent Police non-emergency number at 253-852-2121 with information.

Kent teen Asia Wilbon is missing out of Kent, Washington. She was last seen Wednesday, Feb. 12th in the West Hill area.

Asia is 16-years-old, 5’3″, approx. 130lbs and is likely wearing black clothing. She has black hair, pulled into a bun.

Currently Asia’s cellphone is going straight to voicemail. Kent Police say Asia’s last phone signal was in Federal Way at 1:35 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

UPDATE 2/16 9:40AM: Asia’s father has shared that she was last seen atbthe Federal Way Transit Center Saturday morning around 9:30am. The family is continuing their search in Federal Way this morning, focusing on the Federal Way Commons area on 320th.

Asia Wilbon Remains Missing After One Year, But Hope is Not Lost | Auburn Examiner

“I feel that when she left the house, she wasn’t in a good head space mentally and just went out for a walk. None of her clothes are missing. The only thing that she took was her phone and house keys,” Wilbon (her dad) said.

A year later, the investigation has hit a stand-still. Wilbon said they haven’t heard from the detective assigned to his daughter’s case in about nine months. According to Jaron Kasner, Assistant Police Chief for the Kent Police Department, there are no new developments. The case remains open.

Wilbon received an email from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in December 2020 informing him that there was a possible sighting of Asia in South Carolina.

According to Wilbon, the NCMEC advised they would follow up, but he has yet to receive an update.

“I do not think that she left with the intentions of not coming back.” Wilbon said, “I feel like she is out there somewhere and in extreme danger.”

One year later: Kent Police still searching for missing teen, Asia Wilbon

Asia was last seen at her father's home on the West Hill area of Kent.
Kent Police say there were indications that Asia may have been near the Des Moines waterfront and/or near a Federal Way transit center shortly after she was last seen by her family, who says Asia was depressed at the time she disappeared, due to the recent passing of her mother, who lived in North Carolina.

Tractor trailer to serve as moving billboard in search for missing child

A tractor trailer has been plastered with the image of a girl missing since last spring in hopes that the ‘moving billboard’ will help in locating the lost child.

Asia Wilbon has been missing since February 13, 2020.

The truck is a collaboration between Kam-Way Transportation, Washington State Patrol, and the Kent Police Department in an attempt to increase exposure for Asia’s case. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, one in six missing children are recovered thanks to the help of a publicly displayed photo.
