The family of Austin Leming has announced an increased reward for information about the man's whereabouts following his surprise disappearance three-and-a-half years ago. Foul play is suspected by authorities.

On Friday, Austin's mother joined other community members for a honk and wave event to raise awareness of his disappearance as the family continues asking the public for any information they may have about what happened to the South Prarie man.

The 36-year-old's mother, Karen Leming, says there is now a $31,000 reward.

Brookhyser also said Mares claimed that he had dismembered Leming’s remains to dispose of them.

A judge set bail at $5 million and Mares remains in custody. His arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 24.

But today, Austin is still missing. FOX 13’s Shirah Matsuzawa talked with his mom as she says that, despite an arrest in her son’s case, she still can’t get closure.

"It's a nightmare that you live every single day, all day long. It's what you wake up with. It's what you go to bed with," Karen Leming said

It’s been more than four years since Karen Leming saw her son Austin. He was reported missing in December 2021. In November 2025, a 46-year-old was arrested for Austin’s death, but he’s not saying where Austin is located.

Now the search turns to anyone who may know something, but has not done so yet. There is a reward over $30,000 for information about Austin's remains
