Someone traveling on I-82 noticed the man's body Wednesday around 2:12 p.m. near the highway between milepost 83 and 84, and deputies estimate the body was at that location for approximately four days.

Investigators found the body at the south side of a barbed wire fence, and believe the man was trying to climb the fence. No signs of injury were apparent.

The deceased has not been identified. He is described as a white man, possibly 55 to 70 year old, and balding with a long beard, according to Benton County Sheriff's Office reports.

Deputies said the man was wearing new looking shoes, jeans, a dark green colored light jacket and a black colored beanie type cap when his body was found. Detectives did not find any identification on the deceased.

[h=1]Authorities identify body found near Prosser Jan. 17[/h]
PROSSER, Wash. -- Authorities have identified a man whose body was found two weeks ago near Interstate 82 just east of Prosser.

Benjamin Dale Newcomb, 48, of Benton City was identified after the Benton County Sheriff’s Office circulated a composite sketch, which generated multiple phone calls from the community, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
An autopsy revealed the man likely died from natural causes.

His identity was confirmed through fingerprints that were forwarded to the Washington State Patrol’s crime lab.

An investigation by the sheriff’s office determined Newcomb’s body was likely found where it was because he had an acquaintance living nearby on Sales Yard Road.
