OHSU Doernbecher Hospital has an exceptional reputation here in the Northwest. In looking over this article, it certainly seems as if they have responded appropriately to this man's sick actions. It's awfully scary to think that he was working with children in the ICU...where children are extremely vulnerable.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Pediatric nurse at Doernbecher Children's Hospital faces child porn charges
February 17, 2012

"A 43-year-old man who worked as a pediatric intensive care nurse at OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital faces child pornography charges. Federal officials arrested Bryan Whitney Corbitt on Thursday night at his home in Washougal following a months-long investigation triggered by Corbitt's alleged screen name: "Kidluver." Officials traced the name, linked to the sharing of child porn through peer-to-peer software, to Corbitt's home...."

and

"...OHSU conducted an internal investigation, checking all the computers that Corbitt had access to. Officials discovered he had sent four photos from a patient's family to his private email account. The photos were not sexual in nature but emailing photos of patients without authorization or for any reason outside an employee's job violates OHSU policy...."

and

"....Corbitt passed an extensive background check when he was hired by OHSU on Nov. 5, 2001. He initially worked in ER but on July 15, 2002, transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit. Before the transfer, he passed a second criminal check...."

and

"...Corbitt resigned Feb. 10. On Friday, OHSU sent 10,000 letters to families of patients who may have had contact with Corbitt, alerting them to the investigation and his arrest...."

and

"....Undercover agents with Homeland Security Investigations -- which is mandated to protect children from predators -- started tracking his online moves last November, when the name "Kidluver" popped up on their radar...."

Investigators in child porn case try to identify origin of photos
February 22, 2012

"Federal investigators are trying to determine if two pictures of boys they seized from a nurse facing child pornography charges were taken at Oregon Health and Science University, the hospital confirmed Wednesday...."

and

"....According to the hospital, federal agents showed nurse manager PB and the hospital's head of security the pictures. Both pictures showed the boys with a catheter and one showed a man's hand on the child's genitalia...."

That judge should be ashamed of himself. No bail for this perp is outrageous!

I can't find the rationale behind his release--as if there could be one. He's not considered a flight risk? The children he might have photographed locally and their families are not in danger?

From May 2013:

http://www.kptv.com/story/22473007/former-ohsu-nurse-sentenced-to-prison-for-child-porn

A former pediatric nurse at Oregon Health & Science University has been sentenced to seven years in prison on child pornography charges.

Bryan Corbitt, 44, of Washougal, WA, was arrested Feb. 16, 2012. He was convicted on charges of receipt, distribution and possession of child pornography...

Forensic investigators said among the images depicting child pornography were photos of young boys with catheters taken in a hospital setting. Investigators did not identify where those photos originated.
