Identified! WA - Camano Island, adult male, beard, naked, drifting in water, 20 Oct 2020 - Thomas Weldon

A kayaker discovered a body drifting in the water Tuesday evening off the Madrona Beach neighborhood on the west side of Camano Island.

The body is that of an adult man, who was 5-foot-8 and 151 pounds with dark hair and a beard, according to a news release from the Island County Coroner’s Office.

There were no clothes on the body, and it appears he had been in the water for an extended period of time, according to the Coroner's Office.

The Coroner's Office confirmed that this person is not Sean Pickering or Walter Mead, two men who went missing from Jefferson County on Oct. 9.

"UPDATE 12/23/2020: The Island County Coroner's Office has released a sketch of the male completed by a forensic artist based on the information available. The subject's fingerprints and DNA have been submitted but no match has been made at this time."

UPDATE 12/29/2020: The subject has been identified via his fingerprints as 52 year old Thomas Weldon from Utah. Thomas was last seen in Sedro Woolley, Washington the last part of September 2020. "Thomas Markus Weldon, age 52, died October 20, 2020 while doing the things he loved best. He had spent his last months traveling the area around Yellowstone, then went north west into Washington. He then headed towards the coast where his body was found. It was determined that an accidental drowning was the cause of his death."
