Robert A. Jones

The man whose body was found last Fourth of July in the Columbia River has been identified as a homeless man, Robert A. Jones, 76.

Chelan County Coroner Wayne Harris had released sketches of the man made by a forensic artist in January. Harris said he sent the sketches to the Chelan County PUD security department and some of their officers recognized the man based on multiple contacts with him on PUD property.

TY for the update, @iulia! More from the article:

Harris said based on the name they provided him he obtained medical records for Jones, who had X-rays taken at a hospital in May 2021.

“I felt optimistic that we would get a match,” Harris said in a press release. “The age of the gentleman was in the age range provided by the anthropologist months ago, and the man had not been contacted by law enforcement or the PUD security staff since May; the pathologist estimated that he may have been in the river for about 2 months. This fit the timeline.”

His photo also looks remarkably similar to the sketches. Great work by Natalie Murry.
