A sex offender suspected of killing his two roommates in Frederickson claims the two victims were "grooming" boys for sex, according to court documents.

The suspect, 40-year-old Richard Atkisson, pleaded not guilty in court Monday on a fugitive warrant out of California. Prosecutors have yet to file charges in the double homicide, but Atkisson is being held without bail for investigation of murder.

A sheriff's deputy found the bodies of the two victims, 20-year-old Michael Henderson and 66-year-old Joseph Moisa, Sunday morning while doing a routine sex offender address check at the Frederickson home.

A man has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder in the first degree in the deaths of two men found beaten to death in a Spanaway home on Sunday...

Documents say Atkisson told detectives he decided to kill both men and he thought about it and planned it for about a day.

The documents say Atkisson told detectives he used a pipe to beat one roommate and later placed a bag over his head until he stopped breathing because he "was just not dying." He used the same pipe to kill the other roommate, documents say.

A fugitive sex offender convicted of killing his two roommates near Frederickson 19 months ago was sentenced in Pierce County Superior Court on Thursday to 50 years in prison.

Richard Earl Atkisson, 42, previously pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the deaths of Joseph Moisa, 66, and Michael Henderson, 20.
