I can't find the article, but are you sure it said "neighbor"? I thought it said that it was a family friend that saw them. If this person doesn't live on Maple then it does not make sense, like you are saying.

Hi Boondock, For the last week I thought it was neighbor and then in that invisible link I learned that MB was quoted or referred to as saying it was a family friend.

I did venture out tonight in my Easter finery at SM and asked KaraK if this person lived on Maple or on the other side of 3rd St. She answered that there were 2 sightings of Lindsay on Maple and that the first of those sightings was the same person that sent Josh home earlier Being as she is one of the last ones to see Lindsay alive I think I can take that as a confirmation.

She didn't answer my question tho, so I did write another post explaining why I wanted to know if this friend lived on Maple. She hasn't answered that and I fully understand why she might not be able to give out that info. I'll leave it at that, as afterall, she is an active part of the investigation.

I bet multitudes of people in McCleary work for the State in some capacity. With the Corrections Center in Shelton 20 min away and Olympia which is the State capitol and about the same distance away, it would be like finding a needle in a haystack to ferret this out from behind the scenes and find the friend.

If she doesn't live on Maple then we might have an inconsistency a brewin'. At least LE knows the truth in the matter. xox


ETA: I guess I am just assuming this person works for the State as she has to drive to another county to work. And like I said, there are so many State jobs close by McCleary.

NMK... I like your theory a lot. I too believe she went somewhere else ...willingly... but something happened. Only a few people knew she was alone...LB being one of them, so she went somewhere else while she still had time (since her curfew was 10).

ITA Cajun, Another reason is her little shoes didn't come off which could have happened if she were pulled into a car. They were slip ons, right?

Also LE has not found the crime scene that we know of yet. If she had been pulled into a car there could have been evidence left behind. Blood from a skinned knee or palm or something in her hand that dropped on the pavement for instance. xox

Hi, I have to go to bed, but tomoz I'd like to explore the Capitol Forest as evidently there was an unconfirmed sighting of Lindsay there on Sat the 27th. Last Fri July 3rd there was an arson fire started in the forest at the Fall Creek Campground. It may be related, maybe not. Mistivon brought this to our attention.

I don't know if it would go here on this thread or another.

I thought KK said her curfew was when the lights come on. Imo, on that evening, it would have been no later than 9:30. It was light, but only for another 15 minutes or so, which would have given her very little extra time. She could have though gone to another friends house, expecting a ride home if she wouldn't have been able to spend the night.
Also it has been said that she was afraid of the dark.
The streets are isolated, which, imo, makes it a little spooky in itself.

All that to say, imo, if she didn't have another friend living close by, where she would be fairly confident she could get a ride, someone to walk her home, call her mom to come get her to walk her home, then she didn't detour her route to Mommasen.

Within a span of thirty days, she wrote down that she was having nightmares, and that she felt like something bad was going to happen.
In my mind, that would make her hypersensitive to the situation she suddenly found herself in.
If she was fearful, she would have headed to the nearest place that looked safe. Since she was 1 1/2 blocks from kk's house, where might she go?
Thinking like a kid, I might try to run, but she has slip on shoes. She can't run.
Next idea, turn around, too far, getting dark too fast.
Next idea, ask the neighbor who helped me before?
But she says she saw her as she was leaving for work.
If she didn't take her,
next idea, go to a residence on Maple that you know, or to the nearest business.

We don't know if she got scared.
I've been watching the light outside in the evening between 9-9:30. The light was dimming with each step she was taking, imo and she knew she had to scoot to get home before dark.

10pm was the curfew for both of the Baum children...

"When she wasn't home by 10, I started to get nervous," Baum said, adding that 10 p.m. is the curfew for her children.

The "young girl walking home alone and kidnapped scenario" reminds me vividly of what happened in the Carlie Brucia case. How many incidents will it take before parents get the message that they cannot allow their children to be alone like that?

The perp was a fired auto mechanic. I'm hoping LE checked out auto mechanics at the Shell station, if any.

From what I understand, the mother believed her daughter was being escorted by older brother. It's easy to criticize with 20/20 hindsight, but when kids are running back and forth to each others homes all the time, it's easy to loosen up on the vigilance (especially in such a small town).

Glad I'm not a parent in today's world. When I was growing up I would wander for miles and miles out in the "country" and all over town. Walking a few blocks to a friend's house wasn't remotely considered dangerous.

Interestingly enough, the two people who sexually abused me were trusted people (a teenage uncle and the guy who drove the children's church bus and friend of my mother's).

All I'm saying is that even those who believe they are truly protecting their children at all times cannot guarantee that they won't be exposed to a dangerous person.

My questions, exactly! It doesn't add up....JMO.

Also, where did you read/hear about the unconfirmed sighting of LB at the campground where there was an arson fire a week later? TIA.
