Found Deceased WA - Margaret Coy, 32, no-show at work, Auburn, last seen at Seattle restaurant, 27 Jan 2024

AUBURN, Wash. - Family and friends are turning to the community to help find their loved one, Margaret Coy.

Hillary Coy, the 32-year-old's sister, says Margaret disappeared Friday night after leaving a restaurant in downtown Seattle.

"It's very devastating," Coy said. "She’s my sister, I love her and I just want her to be OK."

There was a lot of pain and worry in Coy's voice as she said she received a call from her sister’s employer, the Hyatt House in Belltown, on Monday saying she hadn't shown up.

"Which is very, very unlike her," Coy said. "I don't think she’s missed a single day of work since she's been there for six years."

Police say Margaret was reported missing a week ago by someone else. A spokesperson for the department says a detective last made contact with her on Jan. 24. She told them she was fine and was planning to visit her sister in California. FOX 13 asked Coy about the previous missing person's report.

"I don't know why someone would have filed it," Coy said. "She never mentioned coming down to California. It just seems very odd it's not like her to just pick up and leave."

If you check her name on Facebook, there are some posts from friends and family with updates as to where she was last living and the location of her vehicle. Interesting, somewhat helpful info for searchers I hope.

Into thin air -- hoping she is okay, but it doesn't sound good. She doesn't seem like the kind of person who would just leave without speaking with someone to let folks know why she had to leave. Running from something or someone? Foul play?
Was she truly going to see her sister? Without making sure her sister would be at home, and without telling the folks at work? Apparently, she was not that type of person.
Worry time. Hoping for good news.

The situation with the previous missing persons report is bizarre. I wonder who filed that report and what their relationship is to Margaret?

just for information to those that dunno, auburn is actually pretty far away from downtown seattle, a good 40-45 min without traffic. she’s making quite the trek everyday for her job in belltown.

Came here to start a thread for her if there wasn't one already. A few things, from someone who has worked in the exact area she went missing from:
- It is a *very* busy tourist area, right by the space needle. Thousands of people from all over the country/world pass through every day
- There are a lot of homeless and mentally ill people in the area, so someone acting odd due to a medical issue might be ignored by passers-by (assumed to be overdosing if fainting?)
- it is fairly close to the water, although anyone falling off the pier would probably be seen by multiple people

The thing that sticks out to me the most is the previous missing persons report when she wasn't actually missing? Don't know what to think about that

It's unclear when she checked into the hotel and why, but the medical examiner's office believes she died on Jan. 31 but was found days later.
