12/4 UPDATE: The Okanogan County Sheriff's Office has discontinued the search-and-rescue (SAR) mission for Sofia Amaro, a young woman from Oroville, citing adverse weather conditions. Despite efforts, including the use of a SAR K9, no tracks or indications of her direction of travel were found.
Family and friends continue searching as weather and area access allow. Authorities have reported no new information regarding Amaro's whereabouts. The community remains hopeful as they await updates.
OROVILLE - The Okanogan County Sheriff's Office has joined the search for Sofia Amaro of Oroville. Sofia's brother, Simon, went public about his sister's disappearance Wednesday morning, Nov. 20; she's been missing since Nov. 19. Simon stated that Sofia had left behind a note indicating that she wanted to go missing. According to friends and family, Sofia's white Toyota Prius was reportedly found in the Loomis area on Thursday, but she remains missing. The Okanogan County Sheriff's Office is reportedly utilizing its resources to find Sofia. Sofia is described as being 5'7" with a brown complexion and is in her early 20's.
