Found Deceased WA - Two teen snowshoers, Snoqualmie Pass, 25 Feb 2018

Two teenagers who went snowshoeing Sunday near a backwoods area of Alpental at the Summit at Snoqualmie are missing. Search and rescue crews began looking for the teens at around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

The pass has received about 25 inches of snow in the last three days. There was also an avalanche warning on Sunday.

2 missing teen snowshoers found dead near Snoqualmie Pass

Two teenagers, ages 17 and 18, were found dead one day after they went missing while snowshoeing in the backcountry near Alpental, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Their parents called 911 Sunday night to report the boys missing.

Sheriff’s officials said they only had a small window of opportunity on Monday to look for the two before snow started falling again.

Conditions were very poor in the area over the weekend due to heightened avalanche danger following days of heavy snowfall in the Cascades.

wow, this all happened so quickly. Devastating for those who knew and loved these kids... ugh, can't even imagine...

ETA: Hypothermia or avalanche - makes no difference IMO... Heartbreaking for those who were able to search, and those who found them...
