55-year-old William “Bill” Sutton was killed in Skamania County and the public is being asked for help to solve the case.

The investigation began Oct. 9, 2017. Deputies responded to a report of suspicious circumstances at a camping area north of Stevenson. Deputies said they discovered signs of an assault at the dispersed campsite, but did not find the camper, Sutton.

Sutton had been camping in the area with a group of transients before he moved to a new campsite.

Due to the condition of the camp and evidence found at the scene, detectives said they believe Sutton was the victim of foul play and likely died of homicidal violence.

Sutton’s whereabouts, however, are not known.

Sutton is still missing and investigators hope to speak to anyone who may know more about his disappearance. They want to speak to anyone who was in the Blue Lake Road area on or around the weekend of October 6-9, 2017.
