The correct term is just plain koala - it used to be called a koala bear in Australia years ago but I think the scientists came up with the idea the koala was more closely related to a wombat than a bear!
I grew up calling the animal a koala bear and still find it difficult to drop the 'bear' title.

They also used to call them Drop Bears

What's the difference between "found safe" and "found alive"?

Late to the party here....
Found Safe - when LE or MSM states unequivocally that the missing person has been found safe.
Found Alive - when LE or MSM states that the missing person has been found, but makes no mention of their condition. They may very well be safe, but they also may be hospitalized or injured in some way and since there is not confirmation other than they have been FOUND and that they are ALIVE, that seems to be the best title to use.
