imho, the Trophy Points are an artifact from a precious software set-up.

The number stopped increasing after an update; iirc, Likes, etc, earned posters the points?

Now I do get plenty of exercise jumping to conclusions, and have been known to create dots when there are not quite enough to connect....

As far as I can determine, trophy points were introduced around 2015, maybe 2014, under the old vBulletin forum software (the current XenForo software was introduced in May 2018).
