What keeps us here?

What keeps all of you interested in the JonBenet case? This is a question I have been asked many times by my husband. He just does not understand my interest in the case. Yesterday, when he saw me re-reading "Perfect Murder, Perfect Town," he lost it. I told him it was because noone has ever been charged or arrested, much less convicted, of a little girl's murder. He told me he understood, but it was time to let go. I told him we would never let it go, that someone has to care.

What keeps you here? Do you think we will ever have answers?

Hi Gretchen. I've never posted on the JBR board before. What happened to little JBR blew me apart but didn't even know at the time there were forum's with people dicussing the case, so I'm way far behind!!!!!!!!

I need to do some reading on this case and want to know where to start.
Believe it not I was on the (“other’ Webbsleuth's”) forum in the Westerfield Case. She recommended that I get the book “The Death of Innocence” by the Ramsey's which I did but haven't read.

BTW "Perfect Murder, Perfect Town" was written by my old neighbor Ted Schiller's son...... who we alway's knew as Larry and who I had alway's thought was just a photographer but I'm sure he's the same guy..

Anyhow....can you recommend the book's that I should buy and if more than one book.....what order should I read them?

Thanks Gretchen.......you are a doll and I know you'll come up with an answer....

Hello LoveMama!
Yes, by all means read "The Death of Innocence." But first read "Perfect Murder, Perfect Town," by Lawrence Schiller. I also recommend Steve Thomas' book, but can't think of the name of it. Also read the National Enquirer's,"The Police Files." You will find great information in all of these books. Oh, check out www.acandyrose.com for excellent information on the JonBenet case. You will find interviews and transcripts that will be very helpful. But, let me warn you, there are so many side shows to this case, it can all get pretty confusing at times. Some real wierdos are tied to this case. Good luck.

Do start with Perfect Murder, Perfect Town by Schiller. Of all the books it's the only one that is fairly balanced and given a complete list of all the players.
The Ramsey's book and Thomas' are both biased but interesting for different reasons. The NE book I would read last. Also read all the depositions available on line.

I think most posters here think one of the Ramseys are involved, but we have an awful lot of fence sitters, too. Some people here think the Ramseys have guilty knowledge of some sort, but stop short of believing they did the killing themselves.

I wish we had more posters who were convinced the Ramseys are innocent. It would make the discussion more interesting.

Thanks for the welcome Maxi and Ivy!!! I appreciate it. Well, ya'll might love to hate me soon enough, but I honestly don't believe Patsy or John had anything to do with JonBenet's murder.

Alot of that opinion is based on the BPD and their "handling" of the case, their reluctance to have outside offices such as CBI and the FBI help them, the negligence of evidence if it didn't fit in the "Ramsey did it" scenario and frankly, I believe alot of what Lou Smit has to say. Still, it only makes me ask more questions than it ever answered.

Hopefully, this DNA they are now testing will put an end to all the madness for everyone. I have always believed that this little girl got a piece of her killer and has tried to tell everyone who did this to her. I guess, now with the advances in science, we might finally be able to listen to her. We can only hope that for justice and Jonbenet's sake the answers are finally found.

I had never been that interested in true crime...until I learned of Jonbenet's murder. Something about it immediately struck me....I just knew there was something incredibly sinister about it, and I was compelled to learn everything I could about the case. I read all the books, went on the message boards and formulated my own opinions as to who did it and why.

For the record, I have several possible therories, but ALL involve the Ramseys)

The reason I am still interested in this case despite the fact that many of my friends roll their eyes at the mere mention of Jonbenet, is because this precious little girl deserves justice, and her killer is happily walking around scott free as I write this. It sickens me.

I also feel that there is a large scale cover-up that is preventing justice from ever being served. Many people feel this way...including some "experts" or people in-the-know. It is so very sad. I can only hope and pray that justice will prevail.

Smoke, I have a work acquaintance/pal, whose best friend served on the Grand Jury. My friend told me that her friend's only comment about the case was "it was sickeningly political". I think about that from time to time, and after re-reading Thomas' book, can see what she meant. I am a fence sitter. That almost seems like a chicken way of dealing with the case, but after all these years I still can't stick with a definite theory in my head. Welcome!

Hiya Nehemiah!

I think what is sickening is that a LE force with minimal experience in homicide investigation refused the help of the CBI and the FBI when they offered their help. I don't understand why anyone would refuse help.

If JonBenet was murdered on Christmas night, then who amongst us is safe?

I mean she was among the most protected in our society, rich, beautiful, a queen, daughter of a queen, daughter of a rich man, a little girl in a big house in "safe" community, and on Christmas night.

And her killer is still unknown and out there somewhere, never convicted, never charged, probably laughing at all of us as the powerful forces of LE and wealth continue to tear each other's guts out seven years later.

I'm new here, too. I've been posting mostly at the Laci Peterson forum, but the recent dna found has caused me to look at the John Benet Forum. Just wanted to add my two cents about others thinking our crime sleuthing is too much: Today my husband and I were in the grocery store, when he noticed that I kept looking at a young man walking ahead of us. I thought he was someone I had seen on one of the crime and forensic programs on my satellite tv. That's about all I watch, and then come to this forum to read and post. My husband informed me that this man worked at our grandson's doctor's office. He said that I have been thinking about things like this way too much. I didn't agree though, lol.
