Traditional DNA analysis depends on finding a match in a database. But what if there isn’t one?In this video, we explain how DNA can still identify someone even when no direct match exists. This is the difference between simple DNA matching and identity inference.Instead of waiting for a match, identity inference uses DNA to build a profile, generate leads, and uncover connections that would otherwise remain hidden.

When I clicked on the video, I got an error message: "Video unavailable. This video is restricted. Please check the Google Workspace administrator and/or the network administrator restrictions."

I don't know if this helps anyone else, but I went to YouTube and searched by the title, "DNA Doesn't Need a Match". That seemed to work better for me.

If you've logged in to a work or school account, and that account is what you use to access YouTube, your account's administrator may restrict some YouTube content. Recommend you log out of YouTube and try again.

This was a great 'explainer'. While I understood how the DNA/genetic genealogy worked (since I've delved into it myself), I never thought of what Othram did as turning the law enforcement process for solving crimes on its head.

I absolutely admire what Othram does!!
And I love that they aren't just being involved in cold cases, but also in current cases where they could possibly prevent future crimes by those violent criminals. Law enforcement agencies are now seeing the power of this tool.
Keep up the great work!

Othram is brilliant, a game changer for assisting in solving crimes.

I recently chose to upload my DNA results to GEDmatch because of Othram.
