Beulah Ware disappeared from Green Bay in 2004. Her husband called police days later. He had just been released from jail on domestic violence charges.

Police labeled Beulah Ware's disappearance as suspicious. They considered her husband, Tyrone, as a person of interest.

Tyrone Ware died in a car crash in 2007.

The Green Bay Police detective working the Beulah Ware case continues to look for new leads.

Target 2: A skull lost in Detroit could solve a Green Bay cold case
"WHO IS JANE DOE?

Graf was looking at NamUs listings in the Midwest when a Jane Doe caught his attention. The similarities between forensic images of this unidentified woman and Beulah Ware struck him.

"The mouth, the nose, the eyes," Graf says.

He also took notice of the age, height and poor or missing teeth. They all fit with Beulah Ware's description.

A Michigan State Police Forensic Artist created the images using facial reconstruction of a skull discovered in Detroit in 2005. The skull was found a little more than a year after Beulah Ware's disappearance

"She was found nude in an abandoned residence. Looked like she had been dragged in there," says Det. Dave Graf, Green Bay Police. "And there was mummified and skeletal remains."

Michigan investigators entered the Jane Doe profile into NamUs in 2010. It wasn't until this year that Det. Graf came across it.

He called Michigan State Police looking for possible DNA evidence. No DNA was taken. In 2005, they didn't have technology to extract mitochondrial DNA from bones.

"They did what they could at the time to identify the remains," Graf tells Target 2. "You can imagine, also, this is Detroit. So yes, what else can they do?"

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office in Detroit tells Target 2, "Those remains were never identified. They were turned over to Perry Funeral Home for a county burial in 2008."

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SKULL?

Graf remained hopeful he could get DNA from the skull used on that facial reconstruction.

But no one seems to know what happened to the skull."

  • Classification Endangered Missing
  • Sex Female
  • Race White
  • Date of Birth 05/23/1956 (66)
  • Age 47 years old
  • Height and Weight 5'5, 100 - 150 pounds
  • Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian female. Graying black/brown hair, hazel eyes. All of Beulah's teeth are missing. She has a two-inch vertical scar on her forehead above her left eye, and her ears are pierced. Ware may use the last name Beasley.

Details of Disappearance

Beulah was last seen in the afternoon hours of March 23, 2003 in the vicinity of the 1400 block of Harvey in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was accompanied by an unidentified woman at the time; the woman is described as Hispanic and shorter than Beulah.

Beulah has never been heard from again. Her husband, Tyrone M. Ware, reported her missing on March 30, which was also his birthday. All of her belongings were left behind, except for her jacket.

Beulah was in an abusive marriage at the time of her disappearance and her husband was jailed for domestic violence. She had hoped to find another place to live before Tyrone's release from jail.

Tyrone left the area shortly after he reported Beulah's disappearance, and as a result warrants were issued for his arrest for bail-jumping and failure to appear in court. He was not located by police until 2005, over two years after Beulah vanished. He was considered to a person of interest in his wife's disappearance, but not labeled a suspect.

Tyrone was killed in July 2007, four years after his wife's disappearance, when he was accidentally struck by a car.

Prior to her disappearance, Beulah often rode a bike between the areas north of Ashland Avenue east through Danz Avenue in Green Bay. She was unemployed in 2003 and had to rely on community services for support. She obtained food at a local food pantry.

Authorities initially believed she was hiding to avoid her husband, but her daughter says they spoke to each other frequently and it is uncharacteristic of Beulah to be out of touch. Her case remains unsolved.

Missing Since March 23, 2004

Beulah Ann Ware was last seen in Green Bay on the afternoon of March 23, 2004. Beulah's husband, Tyrone Ware, reported Beulah missing on March 30th and then he subsequently left the area. Law officers sought Tyrone Ware as a person of interest in the case due to his history of domestic abuse charges and loss of contact with officers after the disappearance. However, after locating him, they were unable to determine if a crime had been committed or if Beulah had left on her own accord. In 2007, Tyrone Ware was killed in Green Bay as a pedestrian when a drunk driver hit him and drove nearly a mile with Tyrone wedged in the windshield.

Beulah was not working at the time of her disappearance and she relied heavily on services and support provided by the community. Ultimately this caused the investigation to be greatly stalled as there were very few ways to track her movements or activities.

Beulah was 47 years old when she disappeared. She had brown hair which was turning gray, and hazel eyes. She is 5'5", edentulous, and has a two inch vertical scar on her forehead above her left eye. She may be known by the nickname/alias "Beulah Ann Beasley."

Did they ever retrieve the skull? I know the funeral home was a disaster but there’s still a chance

Detroit needs to exhume the remains they do have, if they even know where they are, and dna test them. I wonder how we could help make that happen.
