A slain nurse practitioner who was found clinging to life last week in the parking garage of a Wisconsin hospital was “deliberately” targeted and “purely murdered” by the suspect, police allege.

Kenneth Freeman, 27, has been in custody since last Friday morning in connection with the death that same day of Carlie Beaudin, 33, according to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE.

A 33-year-old nurse practitioner in Wisconsin died Friday soon after she was found frozen and bleeding underneath a vehicle in a hospital parking deck, officials said.

Carlie Beaudin was discovered in the parking structure at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee County after deputies were dispatched to the area around 3:45 a.m. and came across a vehicle that crashed into the wall of the garage.

"MILWAUKEE –Carlie Beaudin ...was found frozen and trapped under a car in the parking garage at Froedtert Hospital on Jan. 25, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said.

A sheriff's deputy found Beaudin trapped on the top level of the west parking garage. Her head was bleeding profusely, according to Faithe Colas, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office. Beaudin died less than an hour after authorities arrived at 3:43 a.m. ...

Milwaukee County sheriff's officials have ruled it a homicide and say they have a 27-year-old man in custody. They arrested the man Friday near North 37th Street and West Wisconsin Avenue after receiving a tip. No charges have yet been filed...."

This one is horrific. Poor Carlie. I don't understand why he waited for her and then transported her. So strange that he didn't simply leave her where he attacked.

I hope the head injury and strangling made her quickly unaware. Freezing to death on the concrete would be horrible.

In March, a judge ordered Freeman be treated for his mental incompetency. He will remain at the Mendota Mental Health Institute for additional treatment. A new doctor's report is due in August.
