He was still in the slammer when Catherine disappeared. Hence the long shot.
They do have a really good resemblance though. I have been wondering if Catherine is Ellery Doe, but a bit stuck on how she ended up in NY? Otherwise, the details seem to be a good match.
I also wonder if there was a payphone she could have used outside/near the place where the after prom party was held? Hitching a ride on/bear the interstate also seems rather likely to me. If she was really upset with her boyfriend and stormed off into the night, she could have been tired, not thinking rationally, possibly had been drinking or under the influence otherwise--prom parties are rather notorious for this kind of thing, even the "good kids". I also think it seems possible she could have changed her clothes. She had planned to stay over with her friend, so she almost certainly had a change of clothes with her. The clog found with this victim could belong to Catherine, for example.
I think the sketch is a decent enough likeness. It is not a screaming OMG so much alike, but close enough given the age, hair, both having a broken collarbone, date of disaapearance/suggested date of death, etc. I think someone should take another look and rule this out.

Case History
The victim's skeletal remains were found in a grave on a sandy beach in Heckscher State Park in East Islip.
Catherine Sjoberg was mentioned very early on. I think she is worth another look. The ring and the DEC could simply be a ring that was there, or could belong to a friend, relative, etc. She is a little bit taller than the estimate, so if the clog was hers, might explain a larger shoe. Still need to account for distance, but her disappearance is really odd. She just stepped outside of a dance and vanished into thin air. So did she run away with someone or did some predator just happen to be there waiting to get her, or anyone, alone?
