Thank you for posting that article @Quoththeraven, I decided to look up the name Emil Scwanz with the idea that maybe we could perhaps get an idea of where Donald and Edward lived based upon where Emil lived since they were neighbors. Sadly, I could find a few listings for Emil and it was only birth records. Still though, I think this paints the picture that something happened to Edward in 1977, were seeing violence against his father, his neighbor and then his connection to Donald all in a short time frame..
A lot of farms use front end loaders, which can easily move (and bury a body). I'm with you and AirForceVet24, though, Donald is probably buried on nearby property or on the suspect's own land.
According to this science article, some cadaver dogs can detect human remains hundreds and thousands of years old, depending on their training.
