Found Deceased WI - Elijah Vue, 3 year old Elijah Vue, Two Rivers, 20 Feb 2024 #2

OCT 30, 2024
The mother of Elijah Vue, the 3-year-old boy whose skeletal remains were found months after he went missing, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to the charges she faces in Manitowoc County court.

Gratz also asked Judge Lambrecht to amend bail conditions to allow Baur to have contact with her daughter.

Judge Lambrecht approved the request as long as it gained approval through a CHIPs hearing.

Baur waived a formal reading of the charges since they were the same in the criminal complaint.

Prosecutors were given a deadline of Dec. 20 to propose a plea deal to Baur and her attorney.

Baur’s next court date isn’t until Feb. 12, which will be a clerical court appearance.

Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre says that she will have an offer to resolve Baur's case to her attorney by Dec. 20.

Her boyfriend, 39-year-old Jesse Vang, is facing more serious charges. Vang appeared in court on October 24 for a status conference with a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 6.

The caregiver charged in the boy's death returned to court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing, where he was bound over for trial. An arraignment date was set for Nov. 18.

During Wednesday's hearing, Vang's defense attorney contested the preliminary hearing, requiring the state to call witnesses to support its case against him.

During questioning by the State, one of the special agents revealed the property owner where the remains were found had previously hired Vang for a power washing job back in 2023. Additionally, one of the agents revealed they found Vang’s Google search history showing map data that zoomed in on an area of land near where the remains were recovered.

Special Agent Justen Ragen says Vang borrowed the vehicle from another person on February 19...

... Vang received the keys on February 19 between 2 and 3 p.m. Ragen says cell phone data helped investigators narrow down a time frame Vang’s cellphone showed no messaging activity for about an hour on February 19 at Vang’s apartment ...

... Investigators recovered a video they believe shows Vang returning from an area off of Kristy Bob Lane in Two Rivers, where Elijah Vue’s remains were found.

At 6:21 p.m. security footage from a business on Johnston Street captured the Nissan Ultima. 20 minutes later, the Ultima was viewed on Highway 310.

At 6:44 p.m., the Ultima is seen heading toward the city of Two Rivers on Hawthorne Avenue.

At 7:05 p.m., the Ultima is seen entering the parking lot of St. Vincent de Paul, investigators say Vang gets out and leaves a suitcase at the door. Investigators retrieved that black suitcase, saying crime lab testing revealed a positive DNA hit for Elijah Vue.
Manitowoc County prosecutor lays out evidence in Jesse Vang case

in addition, just prior to that travel activity described above, Vang google searched a mapped area. An area that he apparently zoomed in on was Kristy Bob Lane, very near where little guy's body was ultimately recovered.

Sounds as if they are building a very very strong case against Mr. Vang.

As grateful as I am for the role modern technology plays in so many cases, thus helping put horrific offenders behind bars, reading what appears to be Elijah’s final ride to his “disposal,” well, words escape me.

Neither Vang nor Baur should ever walk in society again. IMO

100% agreement from me to your sentiment. :(

Vang appeared by video Nov. 18 for an arraignment in the Manitowoc County Circuit Court.

A new felony charge was added. Jesse Vang now faces three felony charges of repeated acts of physical abuse of a child causing death, chronic neglect, and hiding a corpse.

Amended information filed Monday morning shows a new felony charge for Jesse Vang of chronic neglect of a child, with repeat enhancers.

Vang is scheduled to be back in court on Feb. 7, 2025.

A new toy drive is honoring Elijah Vue...

Two Rivers Police are collecting toys as part of “Operation Elijah.”

Toys can be dropped off at the Two Rivers Police Department at 1717 E. Park Street by Dec. 15. The drive is also accepting cash or check donations.

"Let's come together to fill hearts and put big smiles on the faces of children this Christmas season. In memory of Elijah, let's make a difference," Missy Gibson Wells, an organizer for the toy drive, wrote in a Facebook post for the Remembering Elijah Vue group.

Last week, community members announced an effort to begin a memory box for Elena. Organizer Missy Wells says they worked closely with her family.

Wells and the family are asking for items that later in life will give Elena positive memories of her brother. Such as handwritten letters and drawings.

Why should the egg donor get any deal at all? It makes me sick that these so called 'moms' let the men in their lives mistreat their own children.

She should be held just as accountable as the murderer IMO. It reminds me of Noah McIntosh, Amiah Roberts and so many others. How is cutting a deal with the mommy monsters helpful when they knew full well what was going on?

The State seems to have enough evidence to prove it was the BF. Why give her any plea deal?

The aunt [Katrina's sister] of three-year-old Elijah Vue, speaking publicly to Action 2 News for the first time tonight following the death of her nephew, filled with gratitude by how the community continues to stand behind her family.

“I miss him, and I wish I had the opportunity to get to know him and watch him grow,” said AR.

AR describes the last nine months as gut-wrenching.

Reading through the evidence that investigators dug up, I am absolutely impressed. The LACK of msgs during a one hour timeframe caused them to pinpoint when to look for video? I love that deductive reasoning.

NO updates on this case. Vang is set to be in court on February 7th, NO clue where the case against Katrina stands.
I have Katrina's next court date as Feb 12, but this article is from Oct 30 and I don't think we ever heard if the plea deal was proposed ...
