Found Deceased WI - Eric Boll, 32, Madison, 23 Aug 2024 *left home on his e-bike, wife says he was "distraught and upset"*

This case is puzzling. In one of the linked articles, the mother mentions him being estranged from family for a few years. But there’s a family photo on her FB acct from 2019, so not too many years. He left the house but wasn’t reported missing for about 48 hours later. There’s no neighborhood camera footage that show what direction he went? He is reported to be highly intelligent. And his phone was shut off for non-payment, but wasn’t his wife an RN? He has friends that offered a $10k reward for finding him? So if he was in a mental health crisis situation…those sound like pretty good friends. I don’t know. There’s lots of dots that aren’t connecting.

Eric was last seen on August 24, 2024 - between Cottage Grove Rd and Buckeye Rd. He is believed to be on his blue Vivi E-bike. He might have gone to Devil's Lake. No bodies of water have been checked. He took his phone, but it was pinged without success. Has no access to credit cards or other money. He had backpack, ID, phone, meds and a bottle of alcohol.

The reward is now $25,000.

It wasn’t me. I don’t have any ideas or real theories, it’s all just confusing. Was it self harm? Foul play? Planned disappearance to start a new life?

We asked what he had and got what seemed like a full list. No weapon listed. Aside from the bike, he had a backpack, ID, phone, meds and a bottle of alcohol. At this point I think it’d be worth searching water along his route for remains of the bike.

I noticed that the family (mother and siblings? who seems to be running the FB) often say “we were told”. I assume they were told by his wife. The wife that reported him missing after 48 hrs and that was possibly estranged from his family. I would hope that LE are keeping all possibilities open in their minds.

I haven’t delved into the family because they seem so communicative compared to some missing person families. But it’s not unreasonable to think a very distraught person missing from August self harmed. I’m just hoping he is in a shelter somewhere.

For those of you, like me, who are interested in where people are found vs where they go missing, they were starting the search at the end of cottage grove road where it meets the lake (said in above posts). The remains were found at Milwaukee road and Sprecher (source Body found on Sprecher Road ). Remember he was on e-bike so it likely wasn’t that long a drive. I never would have looked that far from the lake.

Sad that they didn’t even list his wife in the obituary.

I hope she's not dealing with this alone, or if she is, she prefers it that way. If he was estranged from the family, and his wife wasn't mentioned in the obit, it leads to some pretty obvious suppositions. Nobody should have to deal with this alone.
