WI WI - Jason Earl Case, 42, Tomahawk, 31 August 2021

Wisconsin Circuit Court Access

I located a court case that shows birthdate in December 31, 1978. That case was filed a week prior to his disappearance. It’s for retail theft. Violation date was 8-22-2021.

Theres another case for retail theft with violation date 7-27-2021. And another for retail theft on 6-28-2021….and another on 6-1-2021….and criminal damage to property on 5-29-2021.

It looks like there’s a sister Debra in Milwaukee.

Bail jumping charge added. He’s running from the law.

I found a “Jason Case” living in Sheboygan who looks just like him, per a Facebook page for him. I don’t want to link in case it’s not him, but if you search and find it, let me know what you think?

**editing - disregard - that person is a trucker and there’s no way someone dodging charges would be a trucker with as often as they get pulled over. Must not be him.

Either this guy is really good, or really deceased. Because I can't find him anywhere, any newspaper resource, social media, or pleas by family.

Obit of his mom, names family members. It worried me Debbie and Dan are silent.i tried to link this normally but the extension was .app and it was trying to do some weird stuff, so I had to screen shot it.

I messaged tomahawk pd on fb, asked if they could disclose if he had a vehicle when he disappeared. It didn’t say anywhere his mode of transportation. I’m going through all Wisconsin cases and in very few are there vehicles.

I asked LE about transportation, they answered they have no record of any. I'm quoting what they told me below:

"This is from the Wisconsin CCAP notes "01:23 PM Defendant Jason E Case appeared by video in custody. Prosecuting Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Brian J Pfeil and Intern Katie Toohey appeared for State of Wisconsin. Motion for bond modification. Court questions what is the defendant's plan for housing. Defendant states he is leaving the area and doesn't know where he is going to reside"

also per ccap he has two open bench warrants. If he was in custody, I find it odd it isn't listed in DOC of Wisconsin. Nothing in these records make sense to me.

Hello! Debbie Case here, Jason's sister. I just learned of this website and found this posting for my brother. My other brother, Dan, and I are not necessarily silent; more so, we are helpless and perhaps this group can help so I thought I'd provide more details. Jason suffers from a severe mental health disorder and was in crisis at the time he went missing. The last we heard, he was heading to California and was arrested in Portage County trying to survive (stealing food, breaking in to a park building for shelter). We spoke with the police, contacted the judges assigned to his case after his arrests, and consulted an attorney but there was little we could do to get mental health services for an adult that wasn't otherwise seeking them. I actually filed the missing person report before he was arrested in Portage and then asked them to reopen it when he failed to show for his court hearings. After this, I hired a private detective and there were no findings so our only option was to add a report to NaMus in hopes that he will someday show up and someone will eventually contact us. We know he is not in any DOC in the country and has not been reported deceased. I am hoping he's living his best life off the grid in the mountains of Montana but I realistically also fear the worst. Any and all leads you can provide are greatly appreciated (Also, the Jason Case in Sheboygan is a different person)

You are a rock star of a sister. I pray that if any of my daughters were to go into crisis one day, her siblings would rise up as you have. Welcome!

Jason did not have transportation at the time he went missing. It's a very long story but his pick up truck was impounded in January 2021 near Beloit, WI after an altercation with police that landed him in the hospital. We were told he was in a 'rehab hospital' and had some relief but found out later it was a PHYSICAL rehabilitation hospital due to a broken hip that he sustained in the altercation. No charges were filed so we were unable to get any information from the police department and we were unable to get any information from the hospital due to patient privacy rules. He was transported from the hospital in Rockford, IL to his apartment in Tomahawk by ambulance a few months later. His neighbors confirmed that he was in crisis when I visited in May and subsequently filed the missing person report.

Thank you, I’ve done everything I could to find social media or any other reference to Jason anywhere but found nothing. So I assume he vanished from tomahawk when he got back from the hospital? With a bum hip that sounds difficult. Could a friend have driven him elsewhere? Have the police done a social security number check or other checks to see if he accessed his accounts or anything? His family does not seem to be publicizing his being missing. Without an advocate these things just go completely silent.

Sorry, I didn’t catch that you are his family! So glad you found us.

Hi! There’s a few things you can do. First, have him added to doe network - they work with law enforcement and can help get his info out there.
There’s a group on Facebook called missing people of northern Wisconsin that I am a part of that really focuses on the area. They will help publicize.
I see he was added to MPIA Wisconsin and they made a poster for him you can use.
I added Jason to a site I made: Case, Jason Earl | Wisconsin Missing
It’s excellent you have a pd in charge because it’s an open records state. You can ask the pd records dept for a copy of the case file. It might help to see what has and hasn’t been done.
Do you know of any friends or family he might be staying with?
If he was attacking police he was a danger to himself or others and you could have had a mental health hold put on him, I’m shocked nobody said anything about that. Yes you could get mental health services if he’s attacking others. The standard is danger to self or others. In reality with no car and with unstable mental health he’s not making it to California, unless he has help. So I’d start looking again closer to home.
So was he last seen in portage or returned to tomahawk by the ambulance?
If you think he’s still around the park, you could get Michael Neiger’s search and rescue group to search the park for him.
I’d also ask portage county law enforcement for a copy of any file they have for him.
You can also ask local news to publicize the case for you. “A local family is asking for help to find their brother…” articles and news blurbs.
There’s homeless shelters, but they won’t tell you if he’s staying there. Groups that feed the homeless will, though. I’m not sure who they are in tomahawk or portage county but if there are any, contact them with your photograph of him. They will keep an eye out.
Hope some of this helps.

This is so helpful! Thank you so much! I wish I would have known about this site sooner. I will be looking in to all of this.
He has never been violent to others but definitely a danger to himself without necessarily presenting that way which made it hard. My bet is that he jumped off a bridge in Beloit and hurt his hip (his truck was found on a bridge and his dog was found nearby - I rescued the dog). I'm not aware of any friends that he would be staying with - the friends I'm aware of are north on Tomahawk and have no information. He was last seen in Portage after the ambulance trip to Tomahawk.
I think you're right - he's not going to make it very far so I'll focus on the Portage area. Potentially, he was heading my way since he has familiarity in Milwaukee.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Dj, do you know where exactly in portage?I have friends up there

Portage also has Greyhound and Amtrak stations if he was looking for transportation.

I assume the police pulled his bank activity? or maybe they can't, so I'm not sure where they are at with their investigation. But maybe they know the last place he accessed his account or used a credit card.
