Published in the Wisconsin State JournalMarch 30, 1952. Another son, Mike, nine, lived at Southern Colony, a state institution for the developmentally disabled at Union Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Medler are active in the formation of a chapter in Madison of a Milwaukee organization created to look after the interests of children in the colony. (WI Historical Society)
Based on this information, could we rule out Michael as the brother she lived with, since it seems unlikely he had his own place? Perhaps she lived with Melvin or Marcus?
There’s a Gilman street, but no neighborhood or town I know of.Doe network says her location last seen was “Madison-Gilmore, Dane County, Wisconsin”
I’m wondering, is it possible the other articles saying Gilman, WI is a typo? I’m familiar with Gilman. It’s a very small (population around 400) town up in Taylor County. It’s about 3.5 hours northwest of Madison. She probably wouldn’t be up there unless she had family there or something.
Is this something the state patrol would be able to confirm, whether they picked her up in “Madison-Gilmore” (maybe Gilmore was a neighborhood or something in Madison?) in Dane County or up in Gilman in Taylor County? Or is it unlikely there would be any records remaining?
Melvin’s obituary also mentions 2 stepbrothers:I located her father's obituary (Dr John Thomas Medler (1914-2006) - Find a Grave...), and it lists Marcia as pre-deceasing him. Incidentally, he sounds like he had a fascinating life.
Editing to clarify, per the linked photo that "Mrs. John (Priscilla) Medler" was in the photo with Marcia. I then looked for John Medler, and there's a spouse "Priscilla" listed in his obit, and he was in Madison. I can't really figure out what his marriage/divorce situation was. But I'm pretty sure that her father.
