Milwaukee police are asking for the public's help finding a critically missing 4-year-old boy who they believe is with his 12-year-old sister, who may be armed.

Nevin M. Powell was last in contact with his guardian Tuesday night. Both he and his sister, Sanuya M. Wooten-Powell, were last seen walking southbound near the intersection of Dr. William Finlayson and West Hadley Street.

The Milwaukee Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a critically missing 4-year-old boy. The boy's 12-year-old sister is wanted for abduction.

Sanuya is wanted and may be armed.

Milwaukee police tell FOX6 News before the abduction, Sanuya was wanted for a felony warrant, which was battery to a police officer.

Sanuya is a 12-year-old Black girl, standing around 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 130 pounds with red hair. She was last seen wearing a black jean jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Nevin Powell is described as about 3 feet tall and 50 pounds, with brown hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a navy blue shirt and was not wearing a jacket or shoes.

*****
12 News asked investigators who was driving the vehicle, but Milwaukee police said they did not know who may be behind the wheel.

Authorities are especially concerned because Nevin is outside without a coat or shoes as temperatures fall across the area.

uggh. I hope the 12 year old isn't the one behind the wheel

There is absolutely so much wrong with this it is hard to comprehend. Taken by a 12 year old who may be armed? And possibly driving? Since it's his sister, I fear less for his harm by her but the situation with the weapon and a vehicle make the danger to them significant. I hope there's an adult at least driving the vehicle.

poor things. i really hope the sister doesn't get hurt or sent to jail for this. i know for a fact she's not doing this for no reason, most likely trying her best to save her baby brother from something bad at home. a sister's love is incredibly fierce, so I know she probably won't give up without a fight.

Wait... The 12 year old sister is ARMED and WANTED.... Is she wanted for this situation or is she wanted in connection to something else? This is a lot.

I'm glad no one was hurt! According to this article, the sister had been seen driving the car.

The boy’s pre-teen sister was seen driving a light blue Hyundai Santa Fe with no license plates.

Before the alleged kidnapping, Wooten-Powell was reportedly wanted on a felony warrant over an alleged battery incident involving a police officer, Fox News reported.

It is unlikely that suspects of Wooten-Powell’s age can be tried as adults in Wisconsin criminal court. People aged 17 and above are prosecuted and punished as adults in the state, except for cases in which children aged 14 and older have committed very serious crimes, including murder, sexual assault, armed robbery, kidnap, and hostage taking.

For children aged 10-13, a juvenile court may call for the supervision of an adult court in cases of first or second degree murder or reckless homicide, for those who have allegedly committed assault or battery while incarcerated in a juvenile correctional facility, or in cases where juveniles have previously been adjudged “delinquent”.

Who failed these children?

Her eye structure is stunning, but her eyes look cold as ice. What has her life been like so far to be in this place at such a young age?

I noticed her eyes too and it made me very sad. She has seen and experienced things that she should not have. I bet there is a lot of darkness in her home and there has been for a long time. How did she come to be armed? Maybe this will finally be the straw that breaks the camel's back to get CPS to do something and get this girl out of their custody.

Probably both, and more.

Those children are SO vulnerable, especially in this frigid weather.

We are not naming the children involved as they have been found. MPD confirms a12-year-old was arrested in connection to this.

*****
Both children were found in Milwaukee, though specific details about how and where they were located remain unclear.

*****
Dante Phillips, who lives with the children's guardian, said he was confronted by the 12-year-old girl when she took her brother from their home.

"I was ambushed by a 12-year-old. As crazy as it sounds, that's what happened," Phillips said.

Phillips said the girl was armed during the incident.

"I had a gun pulled on me, I really couldn't do nothing," Phillips said. "She had already grabbed her brother. Was finna exit the house and when I jumped and said something, that's when she brandished the weapon."

*****
The guardian said she has had custody of both children for years and has been trying to help her niece.

"I tried to help my niece. And the help I got and the love that I got is not enough for her. She needs something different," the guardian said.

Wow, what a sad and crazy situation. Nevin looks sweet, innocent and happy at 4. Sanuya, at just 8 years older, looks jaded, defensive and troubled. What has the world done to her, that sadly will likely do to her brother too, to make her so angry?

Well, the article does give some breadcrumbs of the household situation. Guardian who does not want to be identified. She has been a guardian "for many years". And we really have no idea if the two children are full siblings, half siblings or anything else.
Perhaps the strangeness of this frightening incident could be the best way to get this 12 year old some help.
