Milwaukee police safely locate missing 4-year-old and wanted 12-year-old sister

The case did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert. It fell under a new alert system, known as the Purple Alert.

Other relatives dispute those claims and told WISN 12 News the two were running away from an unsafe living situation.

"When Sanuya went home to get her brother and, you know, bring him to safety, that's when the guardian fabricated and made up a whole story, a basically Amber Alert lie that my little niece was armed and dangerous, and she was not," the children's aunt LaTonya McKinnie said.

Dominecka denies those allegations.

"For them to make accusations on me about them getting beat on, about them not eating, about my house being dirty, you know, that's real (expletive) up. That's (expletive) up for real, when I took them in to take care of them," the guardian told WISN 12 News.

Milwaukee police would not confirm if investigators recovered a gun in connection with this case.

They said a child is now in protective services. A 12-year-old is in custody, although police would not confirm who.

Personally, I think the child just looks like a child - I don’t see anything specific about her eyes etc that makes me think otherwise. I think it’s easy to read things into expressions based on perceptions later. I think this case is going to need time to develop, and we may never know the truth of it because of the minors involved. It’s possible that this child is dangerous and needs serious help. It’s also possible that she was acting in a way she thought was necessary to protect herself and her sibling from a bad home situation, and while her way of doing so may not have been ideal, it’s possible she was doing something to protect herself and her brother that we wish many other child victims might have tried when in bad home situations.
