The Onalaska Police Department is investigating human remains found along Highway 53 Sunday morning.

Two people were picking up trash along the road when they found what they believed could be a body.

The police department confirmed that it was human remains. They believe the body has been there for some time.

Police said the identity of the remains is currently unknown, and may take several weeks before they can make an identification.
Police investigate human remains found along Hwy 53 Sunday morning

Onalaska Police launched an investigation Sunday after a body was found just before 10 a.m. near Highway 53, off of the southbound on-ramp near Sand Lake Road. Body is found off Highway 53 near Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church

Onalaska Police officials say two people, who were cleaning up trash along Highway 53, said they saw what they believed to be human remains along the west side embankment, just south of Sand Lake Road.

Additional state agencies are assisting with the investigation. The Wisconsin State Patrol and Department of Justice’s Crime Scene Response Team responded and are actively assisting Onalaska Officers with processing the scene. The La Crosse County Medical Examiner’s Office is also on scene assisting.

8 people missing from LaCrosse county.
Tyler Duane Henry seems like the most likely candidate.

I agree, according to the news reports from September 2020 Tyler Henry was last seen on Sand Lake Road and Well Street in Onalaska. Sand Lake Road runs parallel to HWY 53 and Well St appears to dead end at HWY 53. The news report states HWY 53 is where the remains were found.

Possible evidence of ID of body found in Onalaska

Onalaska’s police chief says there are some signs that the remains found near Highway 53 may be those of a missing man last seen about 8 months ago. But Chief Charles Ashbeck says an autopsy being done on Tuesday and other investigations should help determine whether the body was that of Tyler Henry, spotted near Sand Lake Road in September of last year.
