Missing Wisconsin man might be in Pittsburgh

Sylvan Dyken, 22, left his Stevens Point, Wis., home Tuesday and his family hasn’t seen or heard from him since, said his mother, Anne Pawlak. Dyken has Asperger’s syndrome, a developmental disorder on the autism spectrum, and his family is concerned someone is going to take advantage of him.

Anne Pawlak said they’ve learned he got a Lyft ride to the Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee Tuesday afternoon, and police told her he took multiple flights and landed in Pittsburgh.

“We love him and we want him home safe,” Anne Pawlak said.

Dyken has brown eyes and brown hair, is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 125 pounds.

If anyone has any information, they can contact the local police department or the Stevens Point Police Department at 715-346-1500.

‘She was an angel’: Pittsburgh woman helps reunite missing Stevens Point man with family

Someone had stolen Dyken’s wallet, including his money and ID. Pawlak said she got to talk with her son when the police officer called her and put the call on speaker phone. Dyken said he was ready to come home, Pawlak said.

The woman was able to get Dyken out of a dangerous situation in the city, Pawlak said. She stayed with him, bought him a plane ticket home, worked with Dyken’s parents to make sure he had the documents he needed to fly home, bought him food and put him in a hotel for the night. Pawlak said when the woman wasn’t with him, she stayed nearby to keep an eye on him to make sure he was safe. She returned Friday morning to take Dyken to the airport.

As of Friday afternoon, Dyken was on a plane and on his way home.
