A grim photo is being shared on social media allegedly showing a turtle removed from a Brit woman's vagina.

Doctors in Tenerife removed the dead reptile from the unnamed 26-year-old at the weekend after she complained of pain in her genital area.

An image, first published by a local newspaper, is now circulating of the suspected turtle alongside what appears to be a specimen bottle and bloodied blue latex glove.

I can't believe this story.

My guess is that alcohol was involved.
The only information that has emerged is that the woman went out last Thursday night - two days before her emergency hospital visit - with a group of British men she met in an area called Las Veronicas in Los Cristianos prior to starting to feel unwell.

Oh, yeah, right! I'd call that animal cruelty! If there's a picture of a dead turtle anywhere, I'd say that has to be true, NOT!

If women can have a ten pound baby up there, a turtle IS possible.

@gregjrichards this story is one of the oddest ones posted here. Thanks. I hope you don’t mind. But I’ve watched this video so many times and everytime I watch it, I think of you. So here goes an off topic:

An emergency room doctor in a hospital in Mojón de Arona, in the south of the Canary Island of Tenerife, could not believe what he was seeing when, on Saturday, he attended to a British woman who was complaining of strong pains in her genital area. When the doctor examined her, a foreign object was found in her vagina: a dead Chinese pond turtle (Chinemys reevesii).

Given the bizarre nature of the situation, the doctor called the police, who took a statement from the 26-year-old. She explained that she had gone out partying in the area of Fañabé beach, but could not recall what had happened that night.

Sources close to the case have told EL PAÍS that the main theory is that the reptile was inserted into the woman’s vagina either by herself or by someone else, given that it is impossible that it could have ended up inside her body any other way.

The woman has so far chosen not to file a complaint and has not confirmed whether or not she could have been the victim of a sexual assault, police sources have told the EFE news agency. The police suspect that this may have been the case.

An analysis of the dead turtle revealed that it is a freshwater species usually sold in pet shops. The specimen found inside the woman’s body was a baby, but they can grow up to 18 centimeters in length once mature.

The police have closed the case, although the public prosecutor in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has begun collecting evidence in connection with the case, and said that legal action is not being ruled out yet.

A turtle... I... well, hmm.

Strange item to use as part of a sexual assault too but no sane person would think of putting one anywhere near their own bits.

I don't think I'll be holidaying there again...

What a neat video and good music. I LOVE old castles. I so want to travel overseas and do nothing but tour old castles. I have had this life long obsession to want to visit the ancient castles. Its on my bucket list. :)

Maybe some day I will make it over there. The thought of all the ancient people that walked the walls of castles and to see the dungeons and the architecture is incredible to me. Maybe in a past life I lived in one or something LOL

Thanks for sharing the video. :)

JMO

Just speculating.

Yea I suspect someone put drugs in her drink and then after they were done with her and while she was passsed out then the person probably put it in her while she was passed out.

If something like that happened I hope LE charges them with some type of assault charges. Will be tough to prove though unless there is another witness that will testify against the other person that may have done it.

So glad the Mirror is noted for its truth-telling.

I wonder if it was a painted one with roses or hearts on its shell.

That’s what I was just thinking, it’s horribly cruel to do something like that to a defenseless little turtle. Whoever did this is a sociopath and needs to be caught now before they graduate to much more terrible crimes, JMO.

I guess I’m behind a bit, so this didn’t really happen?

Better a turtle than a mushroom.
