HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. — The human remains discovered Thursday by hunters in a wooded area near the Shenadoah River are believed to be those of a Hispanic man ...

...likely 50 years of age or older, and that his remains could have been there “multiple years,” he said.

A skull and rib cage were found, and the body had a sweatshirt that read “Kino Wrestling,” Dougherty said.

“As best we can determine, that is either from the Nogales or Mesa, Ariz., areas,

If anyone is searching for potential matches it is worth noting that Harpers Ferry is very close in proximity to DC. It is also close to Winchester, VA and not all that far from Baltimore, MD. It is also very near to I-81.

There are two men fitting the description missing from Nogales, but the circumstances pretty much rule one of them out (he apparently died crossing into Mexico and his body was left behind in the desert).

The other is Victor González Mendoza. Hispanic, age is within range, he's from one of the two cities the Kino Wrestling shirt was sold, and it says he may be traveling. Doesn't say where to, so it's possible that he could've ended up in West Virginia.

There's another guy who's from Mesa: Jose Morello. He's white but listed as 'Hispanic/Latino' because he's from Argentina. Age is within range, he's also from one of the two cities that shirt was sold at, and he has a history of running off to travel (he was previously reported missing a few months or years ago and turned up in Los Angeles). It sounds like he may have gone somewhere again because CharleyProject mentioned he may be carrying a backpack full of water bottles and other supplies. Maybe he turned up in West Virginia.

I notice it says race is Native American and ethnicity is Latino/Hispanic. Not an unusual combination in the southwest. I didn't find any viable candidates by searching on that combination, however. There's a person missing from New Mexico in 2003 but she's too young (30) and not male.

I found a Kino Junior High in Mesa, AZ. School colors seem to match the sweatshirt, but I haven't found anything else.

Do they have a wrestling team?

I wonder if the Doe got the hoodie from a Goodwill. That type of stuff is donated to Goodwill pretty frequently.

He's white but listed as 'Hispanic/Latino' because he's from Argentina.
A gentle correction.

He may well be 'white', but he is listed as Hispanic / Latino because he is..... actually Hispanic / Latino. Hispanics are not a racial group such as 'white' or 'black'. Rather, they are a cultural group.

Though most Hispanics have certain physical features (Mestizo, or a blend of Amerindian and usually Spanish / Portuguese European. The degree of blending can range from very slight one way or the other to very thoroughly blended.), Hispanics can be of any race.

As a result, Hispanics can be White, Black, Asian or Middle Eastern- technically also Caucasian, but usually classified differently. A good example is Selma Hayek a Mexican performer of Lebanese background- and who is a Hispanic.
