Article from the WVStatewide News with some additional information:

Schultz was staying at the Super 8 in Lewisburg. He did not have a vehicle. The Lewisburg police have pinged his phone which shows a 3-4 mile radius of where the phone could be. The area has been searched initially but some of the terrain is dangerous and can not be searched by foot.

There has been no activity on his bank account and his card was left a the Brier Patch. Hospitals have shown no admissions of anyone matching his description.

Press Release: August 7th, 2023 at 12:00 p.m.

The Lewisburg Police Department is actively investigating a missing person, Jarred David Shultz, a 39-year old man from Barboursville, WV. Mr. Shultz was reported missing by a friend at 2:05 a.m. on August 6th, 2023.

We were informed that Mr. Shultz had been visiting the Lewisburg area to attend a golf tournament and that he was last seen at approximately 11:40 p.m. in the area of Coleman Drive in Lewisburg, WV.

This is an on-going active investigation in which we have utilized phone pings, blood hound, ground searches, thermal imaging, surveillance footage reviews and drones for aerial searches.

The lead investigative officer is Corporal Rigoberto Rodriguez of the Lewisburg Police Department.

Our agency is being assisted by the WV Division of Natural Resources, WV State Police, WV Division of Corrections, Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office and the Lewisburg Fire Department.

At this point, we have not located Mr. Shultz and if you have any information, please contact the Lewisburg Police Department at 304-645-1626.

Foul play not suspected. Seems like a weird scenario for suicide, if that's the case. Imo. I'm curious what the text or phone call was about. Maybe he was upset about something.
It is a weird scenario……very strange for a suicide scenario
