GLASGOW, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department has issued a report of a missing man.

Samuel Richard Riser was last seen near his Glasgow home on the 300 block of Third Avenue Tuesday December 7.

Family and neighbors told the Sheriff's Department it is out of character for him to be out of contact for so long.

Samuel Riser is 60 years old. He weighs about 205 pounds, is 6'1'', and has gray hair.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information to give them a call.

Family Makes Plea For Remains In 5-Year-Old Murder Cold Case

http://www.wchstv.com/news/features/eyewitness-news/stories/Family-Makes-Plea-For-Remains-In-5-Year-Old-Murder-Cold-Case-240326.shtml#.Vmg717grLIU

There’s a murder case that's been haunting Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies for the last five years. The sister of Sam "Dickie" Riser is again pleading for help. Not for her brother's return, but for the whereabouts of his remains.

The Glasgow man disappeared half a decade ago. Dickie riser's sister Linda Barnette tells Eyewitness News, given what they saw at the crime scene, she and her niece were the first ones inside his home the night of his murder, there's no way he could be alive.

Now, they just want to put his remains, if they can be located, to rest.

"We know what he was murdered with,” said Barnette. “We know DNA was left at the crime scene."

Police investigated, but did not have enough evidence to put out a warrant for anyone's arrest. What Barnette does not know after 5 years now, is where her brother's remains are and she believes someone out there most definitely knows.

This December marks 10 years since an eastern Kanawha County coal mine worker was last seen alive and while investigators do have persons of interest in the case, they don't have the evidence needed to secure an arrest.

Samuel Richard Riser, who went by Dickie, has been missing since Dec. 8, 2010. He was 60 years old and was last seen at his home in the 300 block of Third Avenue in Glasgow.
---
"We learned on Dec. 8, he had some activity on some bank accounts, some phone records. There are some things in his house that we found that would indicate he was still at his house on Dec. 8," Kanawha County Sheriff's Office Chief of Detectives Lt. Sean Snuffer said. "Everything that we feel led to his disappearance may have occurred either late on Dec. 8 or Dec. 9."
---
"They happened to realize he hadn't been at work for three days, so they in turn, got a hold of his landlord. His landlord went to the residence. They had a key to the house and went inside the house and found that the TV was on in the house and some lights were on in the house which, they say, was very odd for Mr. Riser," Snuffer said.

Detectives said they discovered blood inside the home that was enough to indicate there had been some sort of altercation in the house. Also of note, nothing was stolen from the home and a large amount of cash was still inside.
---
"We think it was personal. We think the crime happened. We think Samuel Riser knew the person who came into the house and possibly even left with them," Snuffer said.
---
"We know that Mr. Riser was involved with a female in the community. We've looked into that aspect. We don't feel that he was involved in anything illegal, any narcotics or anything like that," Snuffer said.
---
If you have any information about Riser's disappearance or where his body could be found, you can call 304-357-0169. You can also email them at [email protected] or submit a tip on their website.

Details of Disappearance

Riser was last seen at his home in the 300 block of Third Avenue in Glasgow, West Virginia sometime after 5:00 p.m. on December 7, 2010. He has never been heard from again. He was reported missing on December 11 after he didn't show up for work at his coal mining job.

Police found no sign of forced entry to his home and nothing was missing, but there was blood at the scene. Riser lived alone at the time of his disappearance; he had custody of his seventeen-year-old daughter, but she was away from home attending a residential military school.

Foul play is suspected in Riser's case. His coat, keys, wallet, jewelry and cellular phone disappeared with him, but not his car. Authorities have three persons of interest whom they haven't publicly identified.
