''The ride that Sharon and her friend thought would bring freedom enslaved them. Police provided details to the family.
“They were blindfolded all the time,” said Phyllis.
They were taken to a house in Rawlins, Wyoming, and held captive until Sharon’s friend escaped.
“Got away and notified, you know the authorities where she was at, but when they got there, she they were already gone,” said Phyllis.
The home they were held in was connected to Royal Russell Long, a truck driver, who claimed the girls lied about their age and tried to extort him. He did admit to one thing: handing off Sharon Baldeagle to another trucker.
“They did find out he did sell her. But he wouldn’t say anymore,” Phyllis explains.
Long did say the truck was destined for Dallas, Texas.''
''Long died in 1993 in jail, serving a sentence for kidnapping the girls. He was also charged and tried for abducting other girls, usually in pairs, as far away as Oklahoma. When Long died, it appears his secrets died with him.''
''According to the Pennington County Criminal Investigations Division, it is believed Phyllis’s DNA has been entered into the national forensic database, CODIS, if Sharon or her body is found in the future.''
