Cops revisit cold case Adelaide murder - 9News

‘The battered body of 25-year-old Yasmin Sinodinos was discovered in scrub at Tea Tree Gully on December 1991, and a man was found not guilty of her murder in 2014.

But South Australian police say advances in DNA technology mean they are revisiting evidence associated with the murder.

"We are taking advice from SA scientists on how to best achieve the best possible information with regard to the DNA evidence associated with the case," Detective Sergeant Anthony van der Stelt said on Sunday.’

"We are taking advice from SA scientists on how to best achieve the best possible information with regard to the DNA evidence associated with the case," he said.

"There was a significant body of DNA evidence in the trial."

He said scientists now had capabilities that were not possible earlier in the case."

"Police said Ms Sinodinos was last seen alive as she left a house at Gilles Plains at about 6:00am on December 15, 1991.

She was seen to be in the company of a man as she got into what was believed to be a silver or grey sedan.

Mr Pasanen was acquitted of her murder in 2014, he told the court he had "hooked up" with the victim and denied any wrongdoing.

The court was also told three DNA profiles were found on her body, one of which matched the former accused.

Police said she lived in Mount Gambier and travelled to Adelaide frequently, it was during such a visit that she was killed.

A $200,000 reward is now available for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for her murder."
