However, finding a match will be especially challenging. Baylor’s German-Japanese heritage makes it hard to find a donor.

When I saw the headline I suspected the boy is mixed race, those individuals are often the ones who can't find a match.

I would gladly do that, but I am Cherokee. I wonder if blood type has anything to do with it? I am AB negative. I am an active donor.

Sandy Duncan did a commercial to sign up and become a marrow donor years and years ago. I signed up. They sent me a kit that I had to take to the doctors. Had blood draws and he had a bunch of vials to put it in and mail off for typing.
I'm in the system and haven't ever been matched to anyone.
