NEW: The attorneys of Bryan Kohberger say he was out taking a long drive the night four University of Idaho students were murdered, and proving his exact location will be difficult.

MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger was out taking a long drive the night four University of Idaho students were murdered and proving his exact location will be difficult, according to a motion filed by his attorneys.

Kohberger is accused of killing Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in the early morning hours of November 13th.

Investigators say cell phone records show Kohberger was in the area at the time and also on the road between the murder scene in Moscow and Kohberger's apartment in Pullman.

Mr. Kohberger has long had a habit of going for drives alone. Often he would go for drives at night. He did so late on November 12 and into November 13, 2022. Mr. Kohberger is not claiming to be at a specific location at a specific time; at this time there is not a specific witness to say precisely where Mr. Kohberger was at each moment of the hours between late night November 12, 2022 and early morning November 13, 2022. He was out, driving during the late night and early morning hours of November 12-13, 2022.

Idaho Judicial Cases of Interest

Important hearing on August 18, 2023, concerning discovery and motion to stay. The defense wants time to stand still, but it shouldn't. Judge Judge spoke, but the Defense will plead for more time to push the speedy trial envelope. Also, the motion to Compel will be addressed. They will hammer out it there is anything left to be turned over. This is routine.

Anyone interested in understanding the genetic geneology argument at issue in the #BryanKohberger hearing today, please watch this discussion between @NicholeBerlie and @CeCeLMoore, famed genetic geneology expert. No one better to break it down. In a nutshell, the result of the genetic genealogy science used in the #Idaho4 case was a tip. It is the STS direct comparison of BK's DNA to the DNA found on the knife sheath that matters. Glad we got that sorted out!
