It is good to see a "missing person's" case have some measure of resolution: at least there is an arrest. We see so many of these cases where a person disappears and there is no resolution, no arrests---the hard part now of course is putting a case together without a body, and getting a conviction.

This article states suspect's name is being withheld... (state police are not naming the person)

ADRIAN, Mich. (Scripps News Detroit) — An arrest has been made in connection to the 2021 murder of Dee Warner who had been missing for two and a half years, Michigan State Police confirmed Tuesday.

The mother of five was last seen on April 25, 2021, at her home about an hour southwest of Detroit, near Tecumseh, Michigan.

MSP said the suspect’s name is being withheld until an arraignment, however, sources close to the investigation told Scripps News Detroit that he is being charged with open murder, which is a combination of First and Second Degree Murder that the jury may determine the appropriate degree based on the evidence presented at trial.

“Working a no-body homicide brings on unique challenges,” Michael Dillon, commander of the First District Special Investigative Section, said in the release. “The detectives on this case have done a phenomenal job with the investigation, and working collaboratively with the Lenawee County Prosecutor. I have the utmost confidence in this case moving forward.”

In August 2022, NBC’s “Dateline: Missing in America” podcast covered Dee’s disappearance.

“Our family has suffered a long share (and) there’s one person who could have eliminated all of that, and that’s the person who is in jail tonight,” her brother, Gregg Hardy, told WDIV. “My sister was a very strong person. I do believe that she thought she could handle the task at hand. She suffered from the same thing a lot of battered women have, and that is (thinking) they can change the person that they’re married to.”

Dale Warner is being held on $20 million bond, according to police. A bail hearing is scheduled for Nov. 27.

Warner was arrested Tuesday and ordered held on bond. A probable cause conference is Nov. 29.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A judge on Monday lowered the bond for the husband recently charged with murder in the 2021 kidnapping and believed death of missing Lenawee County woman Dee Warner.

Dale Warner, 53, was charged last week with open murder in the death investigation of his wife Dee that began after the 52-year-old woman went missing from her Franklin Township home in April 2021. Following his arrest on Nov. 21, Dale Warner was given a $20 million bond -- but that bond was dropped to $15 million during a bond hearing on Monday, Nov. 27...

Oh, who the heck else could it be? Enough said. It's him! The husband. (IMO)

Won't be hard at all.

“We believe that a fair and objective review of the evidence — or more precisely the lack of evidence in this case — will show that Mr. Warner did not kill his wife,” Chartier wrote in an email Tuesday.

“This arrest is another step in our investigation, and we will continue our efforts to bring closure to the family and to find Dee Warner’s remains so that her family can lay her to rest,” state police First District Captain Steve O’Neill wrote in a statement.

Since his arrest, Warner made his third appearance in court on Wednesday. His first appearance since the arrest was a Nov. 22 arraignment, and his second court date was Monday in which Schaedler set his bond at $15 million — $10 million on the murder charge and $5 million on the tampering with evidence charge.

According to Schaedler on Wednesday, the prosecution still has at least six terabytes of documents to review while preparing its case, and there are at least another six terabytes of documents that should be provided later from an agency working alongside the Michigan State Police, which at the request of the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office in August 2022, took over the search for missing Dee Warner.

[...]

Dates for the preliminary examination were discussed by Schaedler, Chartier and Lenawee County Assistant Prosecutor Dave McCreedy. The new tentative dates for that hearing are set for March 12, 13, 14, and March 15, if needed, Schaedler said. The dates are contingent upon the court schedules for all parties involved.

Every year in downtown Adrian the river is lined with Christmas trees for the Comstock Christmas Riverwalk, where people decorate trees to honor those who have passed.

This year will be the second year loved ones have set up a tree in Dee Warner's honor.

"She loved purple. She was very outgoing, and the cheetah print, she liked animal print. So I just wanted to keep up Dee's spirit," said Shelley Hardy, Dee Warner's sister-in-law. "She had a very bright spirit and loved Christmas, and I just wanted to keep that going, so I will."

In making the determination of death, Sala wrote, the circumstances of Warner’s death must be a part of her findings.

The “suspicious circumstances,” Sala wrote, citing Suzanne Wilhelm, the attorney appointed to represent Dee and Dale Warner’s young daughter, “constitute the clear and convincing evidence that the death of Dee Ann Warner rests solely upon the shoulders of the person who stood to benefit the most from her death — Dale Warner.”
